Sugarpill filled AWESOME! Or awesome filled Sugarpill, either works.

So obviously my Sugarpill order came today and I squealed like the little girl I am. I've been waiting for this for so long and ITS HERE OH MY GOD ITS HERE IN MY HANDS I'M GONNA PASS OUT.

My ridiculous excitement, still in school uniform
Sugarpill is the bright new makeup line by Amy Doan of Shrinkle so we should expect it to be loud and in your face, just like her clothing. And oh, it is. It is. Its delicious. Also extremely well branded, I must say. You can tell straight away that Shrinkle and Sugarpill are both brainchildren of the same evil genius. It's all got a consistent style, and that style is super cute and punkish too.

My order came in a white box with the Sugarpill kitty logo stamped on it and little stickers around my address [which I covered with a business card because you're not finding out where I live.] The makeup itself is nestled in masses of bright pink tissue paper and glitter stickers and your invoice will come with a sweet handwritten note from Amy herself. Love! This is the kind of thing that makes you happy before you even get to what you ordered.

I hauled the Burning Heart quad and Amy was nice enough to throw in Midori as well as you can see from the note! She really is a sweetheart. n___n

L-R: Flamepoint, Buttercupcake, Love+, Poison Plum, Midori
Swatched dry, no base [top] and over Urban Decay Primer Potion [bottom]

Firstly I'm kinda sorry about the swatches. I used a finger for each colour since my nails were conveniently colour coded [I have orange, yellow, red and purple nails right now and Midori got paired with my pink finger] but that means I ended up swatching Poison Plum with my thumb. But moving on.

As for the shadows themselves, they're super bright and super pigmented. Flamepoint is a very nice yellow-orange which I might actually be able to rock. Just look at Love+! I haven't got a brighter red. Buttercupcake is a rare yellow that suits my skin tone. Poison Plum is just delicious and richly purple, like I hoped it would be. They all apply well, but I found Buttercupcake to be a little chalky, but I found this is the case for most mattes. Midori, a yummy elfy green which is more shimmery, is a dream to apply! Yummy. Also, can you tell the difference between the primed and primerless sides? Yeah, me either.

My only decent-sized gripe, as with so many others, is the fact that the shadow names aren't on the palette but that's not really a big deal to me since I can either remember them or just write them on little stickers myself. I lifted them out of the magnetic palette to see if they had the names printed on the bottom of the pans but unfortunately not.

I threw together a quick look using mainly Buttercupcake since there's a themed 'casual day' at school [I have to wear yellow... thanks for making the ASIAN GIRL wear YELLOW, school D< ]. These photograph soooo well!
Buttercupcake on lid, Flamepoint above socket, Midori on lower lashline, just a touch of Poison Plum on the outer corner
I have a pimple in my eyebrow. :(

Also I decided to slap a sticker on my makeup case. REPPIN'. Welcome home, Sugarpill. All in all, Sugarpill totally lived up to my expectations! Rich, pigmented, BRIGHT AS HELL...what's not to love! I'll be back to pick up some Chromalust shadows... next payday, that is.

Buy it HERE!

What do you think of Sugarpill? Love it? Giving it a miss? I'd love to know!
Also, if there's a colour combo you'd like to see shout out, I'll see what I can make of it!

ETA: Chromalust/SweetHeart swatches now here!

  1. The orange and yellow look great on you!

I'm still debating on a purchase, myself. Still drooling over Poison Plum (and now Midori too, yum) but trying to weigh a palette against my actual bright makeup use. D:

  2. Thank you, Hendrix! :D

Hmmm... I've found that these colours can be sheered out enough to be wearable if you use a little bit on a fluffy brush. If you're drooling over Midori like hell, I reckon the Sweetheart palette would be a good bet. No Poison Plum, but probably more tweakable to a little less WHAM BAM IN YO FACE. :D
    Hope that helps!

  3. I've been getting into lipstick/gloss lately so my eye makeups have been really mild. I think if do get something it'll be the Cold Heart palette plus Midori. I'm interested to try blue eyeshadow again. I've never been able to do anything with it that doesn't (to me, anyway) make me look like a Hollywood hooker from 1984.

  4. Any lipstick/gloss recommendations lately? My collection's a bit small. :]

Sugarpill's blue looks really nice, so hopefully you'll be able to rock that and look a little less hookerish, haha! Blue is a bit harder to pull off I reckon, I haven't really been able to do it. Let me know how it turns out, won't you? :D

  5. Well I'm very happy with my Lipstick Queen lipsticks. I've got the Medieval stain and one of the Butterfly Ball colours (got some photos on my blog), and I think if I go back for more I'll get the purple Chinatown pencil. Is Bath and Body Works in Australia? They carry lots of shimmery (and wonderfully scented) Liplicious tube glosses, and they're pretty cheap too. My favourite one right now is hotttt pink Watermelon Sorbet. I would buy those things by the handful.

I've got some pinches of blue mineral dusts that I've been meaning to play with. I hear that warm/olive skintones are more difficult to manage blue because it looks funky next to all the yellow undertones, and I'm on the cool side of neutral so we'll see how it turns out!

  6. The Lipstick Queen lippies look gorgeous! I'll definitely have to have a hunt around for those. :D Unfortunately no B&BW in Aus, but in case I ever head to the States i'll remember that. Thanks so much!

I wonder if very blue greens would work at all? And yes, we'll see- I'll keep an eye on your blog! :D

  12. I just received my package today with my 'buttercupcake' shadow in it. ^^ I couldn't be more thrilled. The yellow is beautiful and rich and fantastically opaque. I love it.<333 It's worth every cent. I really like how it's pressed too, you don't have as much fallout as you do with loose powder.

  14. Heather Dawn: these have rekindled my love for pressed shadows! Would you believe I was trying to survive on loose shadows only?

Anon: Sugarpill is not available in physical stores yet but they do ship to England. Rates are listed on their 'shipping and returns' page but orders over $75 have FREE shipping!
As for finding out in pounds, www.xe.com is a nifty currency converter. Hope that helped!

  16. Apparently, you had the same reaction I did when mine came in. I got the Sweetheart Palette (Because Burning Heart was sold out! Dx), Bulletproof (which is the most perfect matte black I have ever owned), Love +, Startling, Absinthe, Hysteric, and finally Asylum. The loose shadows did NOT disappoint!
I love how you used the Burning Heart Palette! It's so pretty~!
I slapped the sticker (I got the blue one) on my computer~
Uuuuugh, I cannot WAIT to get the Burning Heart Palette. Dx
